ADULT ESOL CLASSES
A program for members of the community that offers on-campus instruction for adults learning English as a second language.
COMPUTER GRAPHICS INITIATIVE
A component of the art program in which the students learn to use state-of-the-art technology to produce computer-generated artwork.
DANCE PROGRAM
An after-school program in which the students learn to express themselves through movement.
EDUCATIONAL ENHANCEMENT INITIATIVE
A program for students who need assistance in skills needed for the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT), in which identified students attend a Saturday academy at the school, and/or school-site tutorials held before, during, and/or after school.
EXTENDED FOREIGN LANGUAGE (EFL)
A program, being phased in at the school, and currently in grades K-4, in which the students receive Spanish language arts instruction, and science instruction in Spanish.
FAMILY LITERACY NIGHTS
Parent workshops, held at night, designed to provide parents with information relevant to their children's education and strategies that will improve their effectiveness when working with their children.
FAMILY LITERACY PROJECT
A program for parents and children that focuses on the acquisition of English as a second language; developing literacy skills; acquiring techniques for working with their children; and participating in facilitator-led sessions during which parents work directly on home learning projects.
INCLUSION PROGRAM
A component of the Horizons program in which there are two teachers in the classroom- a "regular education" teacher and a Horizons teacher- enabling Horizons students to receive their Horizons services in the regular classroom.
PARTNERSHIPS and/or collaborative projects with Barry University and potential designation for Wesley Matthews as a Professional Development School.
PRE-KINDERGARTEN (PRE-K)
Consisting of 2 classes of 4 year-olds in the school system.
TECHNOLOGY INITIATIVE
An emphasis on the infusion of technology that involves a systematic approach to students' acquisition of computer skills.
GET smART aims to increase student achievement and engagement and expand teacher, parent and community collaboration through the use of arts-integration strategies in the core curriculum. The history and process of art-making students engages students in inquiry, knowledge acquisition, critical thinking and problem solving.
